For the record I think it would cost mopre to land Ryan.

Starters: Zajac or Henrique, NJ 1st in 2013, David Clarkson......that's more what it will take.

That's similar but I agree. Mentioned it may take more than what I listed.

too much to give up for Ryan and Henrique can easily match whatever point total Ryan would bring to the team. i also think P.A will get thrown way too much $$$ his way this summer and will sign a Stoll type deal where he's way over payed for what he brings

If that's what it takes, you don't do it. Too much and it takes away from NJ's FW depth bigtime since JJ is soft and often injured, and Tedenby is useless so far.

Henrique is already showing to be a playoff performer and Zajac is their best centerman. The only one who can win a friggin faceoff.

No way. Not saying the deal is unrealistic, I'm just saying don't do it.

For the Devils sake, I hope Parise stays with your team. It is going to be tough, as you all know I am sure, but there is a slight chance he might shock the hockey world and re-sign in New Jersey.

How many times have players left their original teams via free agency, for greener pastures, and often become a shadow of themselves with said original team?

It works for him in Jersey and it is not a guarantee to work anywhere else he chooses to sign with on July 1st.

If he bolts it is just another sorry example of a player thinking about his bank account and little else.

You take a look at Ryan only if Parise walks simply because you have to replace that production and given what's in NJ's system and remaining FWs should Parise decide to go play with one of his 752 NHL friends, they won't be able using only what they have now. And the 29th pick certainly wouldn't produce enough.

I agree with everything here.

If he walks, he can't say it's because he wants to go to a contender, they just went to the SCF so that excuse vanishes. And, I've stated before I honestly believe his production will not be the same elsewhere. It will probably drop slightly or remain what it's been the last 2 seasons. He wont hit the 80-90 point total again. Not even if he stays in NJ.

NJ's system enhances Zach's production, especially now with the reliance on the heavy forecheck.

I should be rooting for him to sign somewhere else, given my hockey allegiance, but in fact I want the complete opposite.

It would be nice, for once, to see a superstar player stay with the team that drafted him and try to lead his team to a title. Too many times players run as fast as they can and as soon as they can simply for the dough.

Unless there is something else going on there with him; there is no reason why he couldn't take a few million dollars, on the life of his upcoming deal, less to stay where he is rather than split and max his contract out with a team like the Wild.

Not too similar but JJ is hardly the player of Zajac or Henrique. Basically whoeever wants Ryan will have to over pay. As a Habs fan I suggested Rene Bourque, Lars Eller, Nathan Beaulieu and 2nd either in 2012 or 2013. Our 2nd is not much different than your 1st....4 spots different. We'd basically spend our 2nd best prospect, our biggest center who's still extremely young and a 25 goal scorer.

Landeskog had the greater overall impact on his team. Future C all over him. Henrique is great, but him and Nuge didn't bring the complete package that Landeskog did.

My short case as to why Henrique should win Calder:

- He was tied for first in the NHL with Zach Parise for most short-handed points (7). Landeskog, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and other top Calder candidates had two or three.

- He had 43 non-powerplay points, which led all rookies.

- He was the first line center on a playoff team.

- Only Nugent-Hopkins had a higher points per 82 games ratio

Ok so what about this:

- Henrique played with 2 all star wingers (landdy did not)
- plus/minus
- GWG
- Goals
- Hits
- Takeaways
- Points
- only 19 (Henrique is 22, thats a big differance in there development!)

all examples of why Landeskog should/will win, nothing against Henrique and Nudge. Landeskog done more or just as much with less.

Henriique had:
Kovy 83pts
Parise 69pts

Nudge had:
Eberle 76pts
Hall 53pts

Landeskog had:
O'Rielly 55pts
Downie 41pts

Clearly there was more offensive talent on Henrique and Nudges lines this past year!

I could analyze it the same way in favor of Henrique, using stats I want to use to justify Henrique being better than Landeskog. When it comes down to it, it's really close.

As long as he's under 25... why should age be taken into consideration in anyway?

Henrique played in a tougher division..wasn't even supposed to make the team this year..led his team to the playoffs etc. lol you can make a case for any 3 of the players, anyone of them is deserving

Everybody uses the fact that Henrique played with Kovy and Parise last year as a detractor. If you guys actually watched a Devils game you would know that he earned a spot on that line. They didn't just randomly give a rookie prime ice time out of the blue. Like most players in this league he earned the right to play on the first line and when he stopped doing well he was moved off of the line. Believe it or not he didn't play on the top line all year. I'm not going to pretend I watched a lot of Avs games or Oilers games but I'm also not making up random reasons as to why Nugent-Hopkins or Lando shouldn't win the Calder.

in those 2 years he had more time to develop is what im saying, he wasnt a kid use to playing with kids. He played in the AHL and played with men it would make a difference to his game.

Great season by Henrique and appears to have promising career ahead of him, but he doesn't even finish 2nd in Calder voting.

I was making a Devils/Rags joke, but you took it personally. I'm sorry.

Also, it was his injury in 08 which took him out of his compete level. That coupled with losing favor with Boudreau/management...
